Glamorous Indie Rock and Roll

Yes I may be a big fan of different kinds of music and I enjoy stuff ranging from soothing Vocal Jazz to energizing Progressive Trance, but my new favourite genre of the moment is ...
Indie Rock!
... which for the uninitiated refers to "a music genre denoting rock artists signed to independent (indie) record labels" - Wikipedia on Indie Rock. First off, let me confess I'm not hardcore about Indie nor am I a purist, so feel free to correct me if you feel its necessary.
I was actually thinking of describing the music but I think its best I just give you a list of some of my favourite Indie Songs (in my opinion) in no particular order.
Alright by Supergrass
Last Nite by The Strokes
Dakota by Stereophonics
Common People by Pulp
Such Great Heights by The Postal Service
Supermassive Black Hole by Muse
Starlight by Muse
Time is Running Out by Muse
Can't Stand Me Now by The Libertines
Read My Mind by The Killers
Glamorous Indie Rock and Roll by The Killers
All These Things I've Done by The Killers
Somebody Told Me by The Killers
Mr Brightside by The Killers
Annie, Let's Not Wait by Guillemots
Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand
Friday, I'm In Love by The Cure
Girls and Boys by Blur
As you can see, I really like Muse and The Killers. You can go to iTunes to check them out and either buy them or find some other means to get them ;) These songs are just very happy feel good songs that make you want to jump up and down like an idiot (especially after a couple of drinks).
Also if you like Indie you should check out Home Club on Fridays and also Butter Factory (also affectionately called buttfac, with 'ac' pronounced like 'uck' in yuck. Get it? hur hur) on Wednesdays, they call it Poptart. You might also find the crowd at Home Club different from your Zouk, MOS variants, which is a refreshing change once in a while!

hey i'm no purist either - but im a huge fan of indie rock.
but nonetheless abit disappointed at the list - i mean, i wouldnt call them mainstream rock, or alternative rock, but i believe not all of them are indie rock, if indeed, i follow your definition in the post (per wikipedia).
MUSE - love them - they were indie but now signed onto Warner Bros. (Which explains why mainstream radio plays their songs)
THE KILLERS - love them - they were indie, and arguably still is cos they are now on Island Records (which is the largest indie label co. who also owns The Bravery & Fall Oout Boy) - but Island Records is owned by Universal Music.
THE STROKES - Absolutely Adore them - they are really great live. They were indie as with other bands because they started out independantly but is now on SONY BMG which makes them technically not indie if we follow your definition.
THE POSTAL SERVICE - Dude, it's THE POSTAL SERVICE NOT POSTAL CODE. Such great heights is a great song and yes, this is an indie band (according to your definition).
Franz Ferdinand - i love them but i think they suck at their live gig (at least the one in SG) - critics and writers have labelled their music as ART ROCK - hardly indie rock although there are instances. Going by your definition, they are certainly not indie but as with all bands, they did start out as indie.
I feel that definitions and genres have evolved - and that the fact that indie bands started out as virtually unknowns and win the world (see: record label) with their talent, gets signed on to big labels who have $$ to market them so more people can have access to talented musicians, is a good thing.
I remember being extremely happy when EVERMORE (an aussie indie band) got signed on to a big label and have been quite successful to date.
But we all know being signed onto a big label has its cons but the bigger picture is - it is afterall another industry with people trying to make a living at the end of the day.
haha, sorry bout the postal code error, fixed it. Been doing lots of programming with the use of postal codes.
Since you are disappointed with my list why dont you give us your list. I kinda like these slightly more mainstream 'previously indie but now sold out' songs.
Forgot to add 2 more:
Forever Lost by The Magic Numbers
Young Folks by Peter Bjorn & John
sorry if you're offended - but i don't mean to say i'm disappointed at your list because the list suck.
i'm disappointed as in - i didn't quite agree they should be called indie rock if we follow the definition of indie rock as given by you in the post.
the list is great - i'm a huge fan of most of the bands you listed like the killers and muse and postal service and the strokes.
i also think people are very tempted to name some obscure bands - those we've never heard of - just so they appear cool, and be seen as supporting 'talented but not discovered' bands.
