Just found out about the Timbre Music Festival 2007! And I must say they have quite a good lineup. The Festival runs from 22/10 all the way to 3/11. Here is the schedule.
If you don't know who to catch let me recommend the following in no particular order of merit:
Michaela
Mon 22/10 | Timbre @ The Substation | R&B, Jazz & Pop
This is one small woman with one huge voice. You have to hear it to believe it. I remember her voice being very soulful and the piano covers she does is just beautiful, made my hair stand.
Shirlyn Tan
Tues 23/10 | Timbre @ The Substation | Acoustic Rock
Lead Singer from The Unexpected Band that plays at Walas (HV) and Balaclava, she's a very entertaining performer. Also quite a petite lady but nice big voice. She's quite versatile covering songs from Gwen Stefani to AC/DC. She's one of my favourites, I'm rarely disappointed whenever I go watch her.
Fendi
Thurs 25/10 | Timbre @ The Substation
One of Live The Dream's Top 3. One of my friends was telling me about this guy, plays the guitar but with the top strings tuned a couple octaves lower so it sounds like a bass, but we didn't know where to go listen to him, so I was very happy to see him in the lineup.
Jive Talking
Sat 27/10, Mon 29/10, Wed 31/10 | Both Venues
Again this was recommended by my friend. This is one band that has been around for quite some time but still has it going on. I think I remember seeing them play at The Pump Room at Clarke Quay. I definitely want to check them out.
Alemay Fernandez, Vanessa Fernandez
Thurs 01/11 | Latin & Jazz | Timbre @ The Arts House
These are 2 power houses. Very big, rich voices with awesome control. Alemay sang at my Sister's wedding, and the cover she did of 'I Couldn't Live Without Your Love' by Petula Clark was amazing, made it very modern and for me I liked it better than the original. If you like vocal jazz I strongly recommend not missing these 2.
