FRIED RICE PARADISE - THE MUSICAL

TO COMMEMORATE

50 YEARS OF BRINGING PEOPLE TOGETHER

The People’s Association (PA) has commissioned SRT’s Stage Two to produce Dick Lee’s musical, Fried Rice Paradise, as one of its key commemorative events in its 50th Anniversary year.

With elements of early Singapore nostalgia, racial harmony, friendship, neighbourly-ness, romance, and thrilling drama with several twists, Fried Rice Paradise promises to be a true blue Singaporean musical that will have an emotional connection with its audiences.

Fried Rice Paradise features an award-winning creative team led by Dick Lee and London West End director Steven Dexter (Forbidden City), set design by Francis O’Connor (Forbidden City, Much Ado About Nothing), sound design by Laurence Olivier Award winner Mike Walker, as well as choreography by Jeffrey Tan.

With an all-star cast featuring Singapore's leading stage and singing talents including Singapore Idol winner Taufik Batisah, Sebastian Tan (Broadway Beng), Lim Yu Beng (Singapore Dreaming), Denise Tan (Beauty World), Darius Tan (Beauty And The Beast) and the legendary Rahima Rahim, Fried Rice Paradise will take audiences on a trip back to the nostalgic 70's.

Tan Boon Huat, Chief Executive Director of the PA says that this musical provides an additional and new way for the PA to remind Singaporeans of the importance of racial harmony and social cohesion to the continued success of Singapore.  He adds “We are happy to work with Dick Lee, our Artistic Director of PA Talents and the SRT’s Stage Two to produce and stage a musical that Singaporeans/residents young and old can identify with and enjoy.

“This musical is the perfect platform to celebrate PA’s contribution and role to the development of Singapore's unique culture, and it will be a fun roller coast ride for audiences from all walks of life”, says Dick Lee.
