Oldies but goodies, Firehouse still manages to rock the park

It was my first concert at Fort Canning Park as a venue. I've heard it can get pretty hot but lucky for us the evening was pretty cool and it was even threatening to rain. A light drizzle did ensue, but thank goodness it was just a sprinkle.

The "opening act" for Firehouse was pretty much GNR ... in pure audio format. And when the emcee announced their entrance lots of concert goers were "puzzled" with just music playing and no band appearing for a good 3-5 mins.

They came on with quite a hurrah for an oldish band, full of energy and running around. Neil Zaza, the guitarist, kept threatening to steal the lime light, showing off his crazy skills and uncontrollably dishing out those guitar picks as if he was gambit from the X-men. (He even encouraged C.J. Snare to dish out some too.)

Michael Foster had a super extended drum solo and seemed to be a real crowd pleaser. I think he too was influenced by Zaza as he started flinging his drums sticks into the crowd!

After a couple of their less known hits, they finally got the crowd belting along with "When I look into your eyes". Lighters started popping up and I even saw a few iPhone Lighters. They kept hitting us with their old favourites which the crowd happily lapped up, save for two of them. And then they abruptly exited the stage.

It seemed obvious that the crowd would not settle for this and insisted they come back on stage. Which they did in super stardom fashion and played quite a few more songs! They ended the night with "Don't treat me bad", and I would say, definitely on a high note.
