The Vlee Conference - Don’t Stop Belee Ving!
recommendation By luminosita 13 Jul 30 comments |
The Lady Boss of stand-up comedy Irene Ang returns for the 4th Vleeful year, and teams up once again with her three pussycat playmates – Chua Enlai, Shane Mardjuki and Brendon Fernandez.
THE Vlee CONFERENCE sums up the vagaries of the past 365 days on this sunny isle (and beyond). Tom Jones may have failed to croon, but at this show, you will be sure to NOT koon (*i.e., sleep). The unbroken voice (and face) of Justin Bieber will keep you awake, just as much as Guan Yin Ma’s holy harangues will rattle your eyelids.
This unflinching yearly report of this Little Red Dot contains enough hilarity to fill up an entire continent – incontinence? Maybe, if you laugh too hard. Familiar characters, along with new madcap incarnations will entertain and annoy; draw laughter as well as tears.
Singapore will feel the tremors (of laughter) for 10 nights in September as the Vlee camp holds forth.
If all else fails, we name drop – a national pastime. The stellar cast has between them enough awards to flood Orchard Road. You may remember Irene Ang from her many appearances (including 2-dimensional ones on the MRT’s walls haranguing you to give up your seat to the less mobile), and, oh, she’s only just the Queen Bee of entertainment. Shane, of which without the award-winning What The Butler Saw would fall like a tray of snotty muffins; Enlai, who Best Supported The Importance of Being Earnest in the ST Life! Awards 2010 and Brendon, who plotted To Kill A Mockingbird (& succeeded) in 2009.
All together now, vleefully… Don’t Stop BeleeVing! (that one fine day, you can actually watch the World Cup for free, away from greasy coffeeshops and overpriced pubs)
