POOP by The Finger Players 2-5 Sept 2010
news By NATCHAI 25 Aug
“Poop is heartfelt, beguiling and magical. In its hour’s running time, its tragedy and measured hope will wring your heart dry and its moments of visual poetry will take your breath away.”
- The Straits Times
After her son’s suicide, a grandmother takes her granddaughter on a mind trip to the underworld and purgatory — set against an all-too-familiar urban backdrop of fast food restaurants, underground trains, verdant pastures, and SBS buses.
There’s nothing to fear about death, she preaches.
Personal fantasies about the after-life are challenged however when her granddaughter contracts a terminal illness. The grandmother fights with her daughter-in-law, converses with the spirit of her son, drinks a cup of Milo and watches her granddaughter take her final march towards her deathbed in a kind of apocalyptic graphic novel meets Victorian-era toy theatre.
Written and directed by Chong Tze Chien, starring Janice Koh, Jean Ng, Julius Foo and Neo Swee Lin.
