Another difficult-to-locate restaurant in the depths of Marina Square, Changing Appetites appears to be named for its impressively large menu. Whilst tagged as an ‘All American, Italian and Desserts Cafe’, the restaurant serves up anything from burgers to pastas, and Cajun to Asian, and of course, a wide variety of drinks and desserts.

As with many other restaurants, the menu at Changing Appetites is tailored for Asian palates. However, CA manages to serve up a unique blend of spicy fried seafood, buttered rice and piquant salsa, all of which were key ingredients in the Grilled Salmon and Citrus Fire Chicken & Prawns. The meats were well seasoned and not dripping in oil, and the prawns were on skewers for easy access - a nice touch. We also found the Black Pepper Mushroom Steak tender and flavorful.

It was unfortunate that my friends and I were met with the most appalling service upon stepping into the restaurant. Despite the fact that there was no lunchtime crowd, the 2 waiters took a good 10 minutes to bring us water (and that was after requesting). Our orders were taken by a manager who looked and sounded as if he were suffering from a severe hangover - we had to repeat our questions and orders several times before he understood us. We would have walked out except for the fact that we wanted to try their popular gelato mudpies, and we were sorely disappointed when we were told that the Frankenstein Mudpie was unavailable.

Another laudable feature of Changing Appetites is its family-friendliness: on the day we visited (Sunday) there were several tailored kids' meals at very decent prices, and these had successfully attracted several young families to dine there.

All in all, a none-too-bad lunch stop. But cut the bad service please!
