Last week, my family and I was looking for what you would call your standard Chinese dinner place big enough to accomodate about 20 of us. And my parents had been to this restaurant before, so we ended up here.
I have a lot of good things to say about this place. Firstly, it was quite a big place so it was not overcrowded with long queues and longer waiting times. The fact that the restaurant is also located outside the city at Tiong Bahru Plaza also meant that it was not that crowded on a Saturday night. The service was also above average for a chinese restaurant, with friendly waitresses helpfully topping up tea and refilling peanuts ever so often. Also even when we changed our order for rice twice, she still showed no signs of irritation. Kudos to you miss waitress!
The thing I liked most about this place was the fact that despite being your typical Chinese dinner place, most of the dishes were not too rich. Some places simply overdo the saltiness/sweetness factor, but this establishmentmanaged to do their dishes tasty without being too rich. It was very much like very good home cooked food. We had the spring onion cod fish, stir fried black pepper beef hotplate, deep fried chicken pieces, pork ribs (a tad too sweet) amongst other things. Of course we definitely over ordered, as is usual with these Chinese dinner things anyway.
Pricewise, it was quite decent, coming up to about $350 in tota and we all over-ate. In conclusion it's a great place for large family dinners where you don't need something very grand, a nice place with great service, decent food and somewhere not too crowded.
